CHEESELAND
BALEAR ISLANDS

This is an island region to the east of the Iberian Peninsula, situated in the Mediterranean Sea. Its surface area is 5,014 km2 (3,116 mi2). Its capital is Palma de Mallorca, on the island of Majorca. On these islands, a dialect is spoken, Mallorquín, which is derived from Catalan, probably due to its geographic proximity. Temperatures are moderate in winter and not too high in summer. Precipitation levels are relatively low. This is a region which depends greatly on tourism. The majority of its tourists are foreigners. Agriculture is rather uncommon. The best cheese from Menorca is the Mahón variety.

Menorca
History says that the Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Arabs and many other people have lived on Menorca island, and there they ate meat and cheese. Menorca is one of the most virgin of the Balear islands. It conserves its virgin coves and beaches. The clean and transparent light on the island, ideal for camera lenses, and the tranquility in every corner of it, have made this island a touristic paradise.
